December 13th 2009

Your Trust Committee would like to thank all of its members for there support during the last 12 months.

The Trust committee members are constantly working on your behalf both on matchdays and during the week.

The 5th of December saw an end of year party at Baramber which was superbly attended by members following the drive home from Bath City.

During Matchdays you will see committee members selling County Bounty Raffle tickets in Baramber and the main entrance under the stand. Each game will see a different prize. With all profits going towards the next segment payment. The last prize was a £100 Tesco Voucher and was won by Mr K Hooper with the winning ticket being Green 51.

Towards the end of last season Newport County AFC Supporters Trust issued questionnaires at several home games. We had a fantastic response and Mark Vickery has spent countless hours collating the data. The findings can now be downloaded from the link below. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated.

21st April 2009

A hot and sweaty meeting in the semi floored room at Icon ( anyone know a good carpet fitter?) saw the Trust get together, to try and plan their own future, whilst helping to form the future of the club.

We were expecting two guests in John Bowkett ( newest Club Board member) and Phil Burgess, but were pleased to welcome in Matt Southall, who arrived to update us on the latest developments in his "shared ambitions" programme.

Apologies from J Williams, Mark(i;m getting married in the morning) Vickery and Kev Morris.

Membership is now set at 325 but rose to 326 on the night as John Bowkett became a corporate member.

Nd offerred to post out the remaining 40 odd members packs to clear the outstanding ones not collected.

3 members of the Trust to attend a training day run by supporters direct, to enable people to be prepared to work at Board level,  and to mix with members of other Trusts, and learn best practice.

Accounts are now settled, and the account has 3 signatories. Kay is on her feet and getting us ready to be audited at the end of september. Last years accounts have been sent off to the FSA.

The Board looked at projected figures for next season, as we will be asked to confirm a fixed sum to be given to the club next season, so we need to be sure we can achieve the target.

The Trust is the proud owner of a plastic card printer, and will be making advances to Baramber and the Club, as well as other bodies, to print cards for them at a reduced price that will save the clubs money. We can also produce novelty cards, One such trial card with Tommy Tynan picture on it had already been sold at a £1

The Golf day is set fair with 18 teams, and although there is room for a few more it will be profitable. Anyone who has anything that can be offered as prizes, please let the Trust know.

The Band night is selling. The band that was advertised has pulled out due to a TV commitment, but a replacement has been sourced, and it is intended that we have a good night to close the season down.

Carl Lewis. We have arranged a racenight at the Royal mail on the 3rd May, and the support has been incredible. Several ex players have said they will attend, and others have sent memorabilia. There has been one other tremendous gift, but I will leave that to be announced on the night.

County Cash club. Phil very kindly took the time out from nursing his ill father, to come and talk through the way the Cash Club works, and this really is a "lifeline" of the club, as it was from this society that our club was reformed. The Trust has promised Phil that we will activly promote the Cash Club, and will try and expand the numbers. We will make a full press release on this later.

Board members presentation. John Bowkett has expressed his desire to work with all supporters groups, and to act as a conduit between us and the Board. ND offerred to assist in this, as the Trust has been activly making contact with the other groups, to ensure all are represented within the club, and all are aware of what the club is trying to do.
Matt then outlined a refined version of his plan, and the Trust requested that a date be chosen soon to go public, so that the good news can be spread to all supporters.

Matt confirmed that the new financial plan, will be an open plan, with all figures available for supporters to view. ( This will cut the threads on this board in half with all the speculation about monies etc!). The figures are being fine tuned, and it is hoped that, subject to Lisa finding her diary, and a space within it, we should be able to go public mid May.

Matt also confirmed other parts of the operation side were going well, and there will be further announcements about new faces at the club in the coming days.

Finally, we discussed getting the County out to the younger public, and lost fans, and Rhys Warren will be liaising with the club, to get the club out to the schools, in the coming weeks.

Finally, finally, Rob Sant gave a brief outline of his plans to get a matchday team together for next season, including Stewards, turnstile operators etc. All exciting stuff, and no tea for most by 10pm.

Regards Nigel

From the Chairman of the Newport County Supporters Trust

As a supporter of Newport County you come to our matches and enthusiastically support the Club and the Players, and we hear your collective voices before, during and after the match through singing, shouting and cheering. I know the club and particularly the Players appreciate this. However, we have realised that you may want to express your individual views about the Club, the attached questionnaire allows you to do that.

Ideally we would like to have your views of the facilities provided at Spytty Park, and what improvements, if any, you would like to see. Therefore, we have prepared a questionnaire, which we would like each supporter to fill in, as your answers will help us make your time at Newport County more enjoyable.

Please complete the questionnaire fully with your name and address at the bottom of the form. One lucky person will be selected at random and invited to attend match day hospitality, with a guest, for a game of their choice. Please fill in the questionnaire and drop it at the collection points in the foyer entrance in the main stand before either the game verses Fisher Athletic or Team Bath. Alternatively, either deliver by hand or send it back in the post, headed Newport County Supporters Survey, c/o Icon Computers ,26 Malpas Rd Newport, NP20 5PA

So help us help you, and fill in your questionnaire today.

On behalf of my fellow Trust members can I thank you for valued support and anticipation of a response to our questionnaire

NIGEL DUTSON

Acting Chairman Newport County Supporters Trust.

The Supporters Trust is looking for people willing to train as Safety stewards, to work on match days at Newport County AFC

We will arrange, and pay for, full training leading to a level 2 NVQ.

Successful applicants will then work on a rota basis on match days, working alongside the match day steward, to help visitors and supporters have an enjoyable and safe experience at our stadium.

This opportunity allows the applicant to gain a useful skill, which they can use on other occasions when "The Exiles" are not playing.

On match day you will gain free entry to the ground, receive food and a free drink.

The Trust would expect in return that any applicant would commit to a certain number of games per season, so that the club has the correct amount of cover.

If you are interested in being part of the match day team at Spytty .

Please contact Rob Santwris on 07989 448692 or email me at rob@santwris.co.uk

Amber Army statement. 29/01/2009

Following the clubs statement about the resignation of John Collingbourne and Steve Baker, from their roles as Directors at the end of the season, and the resignation of Commercial Manager Jo Hubbard, we would like to clarify what the supporters trust has been doing, as this situation has unfolded.

The Supporters trust has attended one Newport County board meeting, in early January, where the future resignation of Board members was discussed. At the time it was unclear if this would happen, and it was hoped, that as the feel good factor around the club improved, then those Directors pondering their future involvement, might reconsider, and stay involved. It is now evident that will not be the case, so we would like to express our thanks to Steve and John, who have both worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the betterment of the club.

As supporters of Newport County AFC we are obviously concerned about the long term future of the club, and we have been working behind the scenes, to find out what future is planned for the club, by the remaining directors. This is an on going situation, and we are due to meet the board again in early February.

The resignation of Jo has also caused consternation, and we have been asked by the club to assist with handling some of her former duties. To this end we have agreed to assist with, and administer, the County Cash Club draw, which will now be held every Thursday at Icon Computers. Other parts of Jo’s role will need further consideration, and we would be interested if any of our members could assist in an unpaid role, in taking on some aspects of this work?

As is becoming clear, these are difficult times off the field, but please be assured that we are all working to try and create a secure future for the club.

Finally we would like to thank Jo for all her hard work for the club, and wish her well with her new employment.

Nigel Dutson

Acting Chairman

Newport County Supporters Trust.

As many of you are well aware by now, the Amber Army Supporters Trust has recently been re-launched with a new acting committee. One of the first objectives is to set up an active supporters' association, through focus groups, which could act as an effective voice for fellow fans of Newport County AFC. The Forum will act as a conduit between supporters and the club, and will seek to obtain views, ideas and research. The feedback from these sessions would then be channelled back to the Amber Army committee, and ultimately Newport County Association Football Club. Supporters invited to these sessions will remain anonymous to people outside the focus group.

If you or any other County supporters’ you know are interested in attending a future session, which will be held between 1:30pm and 2:30pm at Newport Stadium before a home match, then please contact Mark Vickery via mark@ncafctrust.org
