Newport County AFC carol service

Trust members are invited to the club's carol service, to be held tomorrow (Thursday, December 13) at St John's Church, Maindee, from 7pm.

There will be readings by players, directors, management and supporters.

As in previous years, we will be joined by the Eveswell School Choir and, for the first time, the Choir of Newport University of the Third Age.

The carol service will be preceeded by the 1916 poem The Black and Amber Men set to music by the U3A choirmaster Stephen Berry. The poem relates to a football match played by County footballers serving in Palestine and warns that anyone takes on the Black and Amber Men at their peril!

The carol service will be conducted by the club chaplain, Rev Keith Beardmore.
