Newport County AFC Launches Supporters’ Consultation on Future Ownership of the Club

Newport County AFC has today launched a supporters’ consultation on the future ownership of the League Two club.

The club is currently owned by its Supporters’ Trust and run by a Board of Directors elected by Trust members.

At an open meeting for supporters held at Rodney Parade this evening, the Board launched a six-week consultation via an online survey.

The consultation, which is open until July 4, asks supporters whether they wish to maintain the current ownership model, embrace a hybrid model involving supporters and outside investment, or whether they think County should be put up for sale.

The meeting heard that donations from Trust members currently amounted to £30,000 a year and this was not a sustainable model for a club with a £2.2 million turnover.

The club will make a profit this year thanks to its Emirates FA Cup run. However, supporters were told the club could not always rely on cup runs or player sales and more donations from Trust members were needed if the current ownership model was to continue.

To have your say on the club’s future, take part in the survey by clicking here.

Alternatively, hard copies of the survey are available from the Ticket Office during Ticket Office opening hours.

The results of the survey will be shared with supporters.

Any decision on the club’s future ownership will be made by Trust members.
